How Pay-Per-Click Advertising Works and How You Can Benefit

Thursday, March 5, 2009

If you are willing to pay for advertising for your website or blog, the first place you should look is to pay-per-click, or PPC, advertising. It is one of the least expensive, most common, and most effective means of getting people to go to your site. In just one click, they can be looking at your content instead of someone else's. The more visitors, or traffic, that you get, the more money you will make.

If you are doing pay per click advertising, you pay a small monthly fee to put your ads on sites that target viewers who might enjoy the content you have to offer. You, of course, will also have ads placed on your site, and you get paid when your viewers click on those ads. The CPC, or cost-per-click, can vary, as can the amount of commission you receive when someone clicks on an ad on your site. This is the first step to making real money with your site.

One important concept in pay per click advertising is keywords. When you set up your pay per click account, you will be asked to choose several keywords, usually ten or even more. These key words help searchers find your site, and help the pay per click program know where to place your ads.

The companies that place PPC ads for you are known as PPC providers. For a certain amount of money every month, pay per click providers will take care of placing ads on your site, and placing your ads on other sites. There are several different PPC providers that you can choose to work with, including Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing, AdBrite, ValueMarketing, and Microsoft adCenter that can do this for you.
